    Kaldr Tech + Twilio

Build custom SMS flows and call routing on top of Kaldr

    What It Does

The Kaldr Tech Twilio integration lets you bring your own Twilio account and phone numbers to power SMS, voice, and call routing inside Kaldr. You can set up custom message flows for appointment reminders, on-my-way texts, review requests, and past-due nudges, and you can route incoming calls through IVR menus that send the right call to the right person based on time of day, caller number, or language. For shops that already use Twilio for a homegrown tool or have negotiated favorable rates, this keeps everything on your existing Twilio bill while letting Kaldr drive the automations. Inbound texts and calls create activity records on the matching customer automatically.

    Why It Matters

Most field service tools lock you into their own phone number and message pricing, which means you pay whatever they decide to charge per text and per minute. For a busy shop sending 3,000 texts a month, markup alone can add $150 to $400 per month or $1,800 to $4,800 per year to the phone bill. By connecting your own Twilio account through the Kaldr integration, you pay Twilio's raw rates, typically 0.79 cents per text and 1.3 cents per minute, and Kaldr adds nothing on top. For a shop that sends a lot of reminders and confirmations, the savings usually cover the entire Kaldr subscription. Beyond cost, owning your Twilio account means owning your phone numbers, which matters enormously if you ever switch tools. You also get full control over custom flows like Spanish language routing, after-hours IVR, or callback queuing that generic phone features cannot handle. And because Kaldr's integration marketplace is free to connect, you pay Twilio and only Twilio.

    How to Set It Up

    1. 1

Create or log into your Twilio account

Go to twilio.com and either sign up or log in. Complete business verification, which typically takes 1 to 3 business days. If you are already a Twilio customer, you can skip straight to step two.

    2. 2

      Generate API credentials

In the Twilio console, create a new API key restricted to the permissions Kaldr needs: messaging, voice, and phone numbers. Copy the SID and secret, then paste them into the Twilio integration page in Kaldr.

    3. 3

      Connect your phone numbers

Choose which Twilio phone numbers Kaldr should use for outbound messages and inbound call routing. Most shops dedicate one number for outbound automations and route their main business number through a Twilio IVR.

    4. 4

Build your message templates and IVR flows

In Kaldr's flow builder, create templates for appointment reminders, on-my-way texts, review requests, and any other scenario you want to automate. For voice, drag-and-drop an IVR tree that greets the caller and routes based on their selection or the time of day.

    5. 5

Test with a real phone and go live

Send a test text to your own cell phone and call your main line to walk through the IVR. Adjust wording and timing as needed. Once everything sounds right, flip the switch and all customer communications run through your Twilio account.

What You Can Do With It

    • A shop sends 3,200 appointment reminder texts a month at Twilio's raw rate and saves roughly $280 a month versus the markup a typical field service tool would charge.
    • An electrical contractor routes Spanish-speaking callers to a bilingual dispatcher through a custom Twilio IVR with a one-button language selection.
    • An HVAC shop builds an after-hours IVR that asks if the caller has an emergency and routes true emergencies straight to the on-call tech's cell phone.
    • A plumbing company sends a personalized on-my-way text with the tech's photo and arrival time, pulled from Kaldr and delivered through the shop's own Twilio number.
    • A roofing business moves to a new field service tool in the future and keeps all their phone numbers because they own the Twilio account directly.

    Frequently Asked Questions

Do I have to bring my own Twilio account?

For this integration, yes. Kaldr also offers built-in messaging and voice if you do not want to manage a Twilio account. The Twilio integration is for shops that want raw rates and full control.

    How much does Twilio cost?

Twilio's published rates are typically 0.79 cents per SMS and 1.3 cents per voice minute in the US, plus about $1 per month per phone number. Kaldr does not add anything on top, the integration is free to connect.

Can I port my existing business phone number to Twilio?

Yes. Twilio supports porting in most US numbers, and the process takes 2 to 4 weeks. Kaldr can keep running on a temporary number during the port so you have no downtime.

What about 10DLC registration and compliance?

Twilio handles 10DLC registration for you, and Kaldr's setup wizard walks through the required business information. Most shops are fully registered within a week.

Can I build Spanish and English IVR flows?

Yes. You can build as many parallel flows as you want, and the initial greeting can offer a language selection or auto-detect based on caller number. Both paths can route to different techs or dispatchers.
