Kaldr Tech + Slack
Keep the whole shop in the loop without opening another app
What It Does
The Kaldr Tech Slack integration posts the events your team cares about into the Slack channels they already watch. New jobs, urgent after-hours calls captured by the virtual receptionist, canceled appointments, large invoices paid, and bad reviews can each be routed to a different channel so the right person sees the right thing at the right time. Techs can also reply to Slack messages to update job status, add notes, or mark themselves unavailable, and those updates flow straight back into Kaldr. For shops that already live in Slack all day, this turns the platform into a lightweight command center for the whole operation without adding another inbox to check.
Why It Matters
Communication is the single biggest bottleneck in a growing trades business. Owners describe the same pain over and over: the dispatcher knows something the techs do not, the office manager has an update the bookkeeper needs, and nobody sees the angry voicemail until the next morning. That lag costs real money. Shops that route urgent after-hours calls into a Slack channel respond an average of 40 minutes faster, and each recovered emergency call is worth $400 to $1,200 in booked work. Over a year, an established shop can recover $40,000 to $120,000 in emergency revenue just by making sure the right person sees the right message in the first 5 minutes. Beyond revenue, real-time visibility cuts meetings. Shops that turn on Slack sync typically eliminate one daily standup and one weekly catch-up, freeing 4 to 6 hours per manager per week. And because Kaldr's integration marketplace is free to connect, you only pay your existing Slack bill, with no per-integration fees stacked on top.
How to Set It Up
- 1
Install the Kaldr app in Slack
From Settings, Integrations, Slack, click Add to Slack. You will be sent to Slack's install page where you approve the permissions and pick the workspace. The whole approval takes about 30 seconds and only a Slack admin can do it.
- 2
Choose your channels
Pick which Slack channel should receive which kind of event. Most shops create a #dispatch channel for all new jobs, an #urgent channel for after-hours calls, a #wins channel for paid invoices over a threshold, and a #reviews channel for new review activity.
- 3
Set notification rules
Decide what counts as urgent, what counts as a win, and what gets filtered out. For example, you can set the urgent channel to only fire for jobs created between 6 p.m. and 7 a.m., so the night owl gets woken up but the daytime team does not get spammed.
- 4
Enable reply-to-update
Turn on the option that lets techs type quick replies in Slack to update Kaldr. Replies like on my way, completed, or needs parts are parsed and applied to the right job. This is optional but most shops love it.
- 5
Test and refine
Create a test job and confirm it lands in the right channel with the right format. Adjust the templates until they give your team exactly the info they need at a glance. Takes about 15 minutes to dial in.
What You Can Do With It
- ✓At 11 p.m. a burst pipe call hits the virtual receptionist, a Slack message fires into the urgent channel, and the on-call tech sees it in 60 seconds and books the job before the customer can call a competitor.
- ✓A dispatcher posts a question in the dispatch channel about a tricky address and the tech already on his way types the answer back, updating the Kaldr job notes in one step.
- ✓Every invoice over $10,000 drops a celebration in the wins channel so the whole shop sees when the big jobs close.
- ✓A new 2-star review lands in the reviews channel with a link to reply, and the owner handles it during lunch instead of finding it a week later.
- ✓The office manager uses a slash command to pull today's schedule into Slack and share it with the team in one click.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need a paid Slack plan?
No. The Kaldr integration works with Slack's free plan, though shops with large teams usually upgrade to Slack's paid plan for their own reasons like unlimited history.
Is the Slack integration free to connect?
Yes. Every integration in the Kaldr marketplace is free to connect. You only pay Slack for your own workspace, nothing to Kaldr on top.
Can I route different events to different channels?
Yes. Each event type has its own channel mapping, so new jobs, urgent calls, paid invoices, and reviews can all land in separate channels with different notification settings.
Can techs update jobs from Slack?
Yes. Reply-to-update lets techs type short status updates in Slack and have them applied to the Kaldr job record. Slash commands are also supported for pulling schedules and customer info.
Will notifications wake people up at night?
Only if you want them to. You control which channels fire which events during which hours, so the night channel can be loud while the daytime channels stay quiet during off hours.
